RANAU: The skies of Lohan Hill here will be filled with colourful parachutes as the Paragliding Accuracy World Cup begins next weekend.
Lohan Hill will be the fifth stop of the seven-leg circuit challenge for the title of top glider of the world.
Since February, the competition has been held in Trakai, Lithuania; Stubaital, Austria; Vrsac, Serbia; and West Jawa in Indonesia.
After Ranau, the paragliders will travel to the World Championships in Kuncice, the Czech Republic, before the final leg at Wasserkuppe in Germany.
Event director Lt Col (R) Basir Rahman said yesterday 64 participants from Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Hungary, China, Japan, Taiwan and Indonesia as well as Malaysia were expected to take part in the event.
They will glide over a distance of 200m from the top of Lohan Hill and execute precise landings on an electronic pad in six rounds.
"They will get a score of 0.0 if they land on the bull's-eye of the landing pad."
